I'd like to watch the story, but I keep getting sidetracked by the crazy amounts of negative self talk. It's too much - and it could be triggering to some. I want to know where the plot is going, but wait, first I have to hear her call herself fat and unworthy again. And again. And again. It got old really fast.

I dislike series to begin with. I loved the first episode but now on 5th episode hoping something happens but same o same o. Its like watching episode 1 every episode. The self loathing is boring at best. Real tired of it and thats most of the show.
1st season was pretty entertaining despite the insufferable husband who only gets worse each and every episode of the series. There are some good secondary characters in the first season especially, that make it enjoyable. Second season I started to really lose interest in the story as it went on and the 3rd season was a complete waste time that I felt I had to finish but just wanted it to be over. This would have made a much better movie or limited series. I'm not going to put a whole lot more effort into this review because I don't think any of the writers put any effort into writing the 3rd season.
Rose Byrne does a solid job and there are some good performances from some minor characters throughout. Paul Sparks is great but he is frankly too good of an actor in my opinion to be in a show with such horrible writing. Very few characters are likable and some are simply too annoying or serve no real purpose to the story. The 3rd season not really sure what the story was exactly though because it was so all over the place, filled with idiotic scenes that the viewer doesn't know what is real and what is just a ridiculous thought in Shelia's head.
I wouldn't waste my time on this one and starting to see a trend with Apple Shows that start off well and by the 3rd season they are almost unwatchable...I'm talking to you The Morning Show.

We didn't have the internet in the 80's and therefore didn't have to judge ourselves to "filter selfie standards" which is why this show completely misses the mark. We had sweating to the oldies and Olivia Newton johns let's get physical.. but NO ONE judged or hated ourselves like the narrative in this show. After episode 3 I had to stop... just self hatred at the highest level regardless of your weight. What has happened to the world where we can legitimately tell ourselves that this is funny, entertainment or even ok?

Managed three episodes and flagged it. Much as I like Rose Byrne, I found her negative self talk overtook the show. Nothing funny here. Why is it that what people consider to be a black comedy, is always at the expense of negative and nasty thoughts about others. Not for me.

But as a woman, I couldn't get through the second episode because of all the hateful self-talk. I feel people do that to themselves to some degree everyday, so if a little goes a long way, this is overkill.
Additionally, I can tell she has an eating disorder by her behavior, (excessive exercise, binging/purging) actions speak louder than words.
It is too bad, I love Rose Byrne in (almost) everything!
