I went into my viewing interested and intrigued. I had heard many describe their experience as transformative and talked about how they or their friends cried for hours and thought about this show for days, weeks, and months after viewing. My intrigue lasted up until just after the end of the first story when it became apparent that this was all an emotional manipulation put on by the magician. In "In & of Itself" Derek Delgaudio manipulates the audience as he would a deck of cards. The emotions he tries to convey feel forced on me like a card he wants me to pull in his trick. The stories are pointless pseudo profound vehicles for a few bits of slight of hand and mentalism, which are few and far between. After watching then seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews online I feel like I am living out "The Emperor's New Clothes". This is nothing more than a frowning magician making you believe you heard and saw something amazing. It's the same recipe magicians have been cooking up for hundreds of years, Derek just threw in some other ingredients that taste awful to me.

Weird. Not a magic show. More like a psychologist who thinks he knows everything. Seriously made me uncomfortable to watch. He played the audience like a deck of cards.

This was just a magician's take of a Tony Robin's seminar. So many people out there are messed up and confused. I at times feel that way but at no point have I needed a "self help" solution. I have plenty of issues and struggles but I guess I was just raised to figure it out and if I can't, no shame in asking for help. I gave this 1 star not because it can't help some people but because of the profit they make off of it. With only a temporary solution like this performance you will need a part 2, and he will make a part 2 for you to pay for. I dislike preying on the less fortunate.

Right? The drama of him clearing each person and getting them to sit down? The emotional part of that, him actually determining who you are and what card you picked could not be done. Looking in your eyes is not a way for a complete stranger to figure this out. Right?

I never write reviews, but this was such a bizarre movie that I wanted to reassure others who may have the same experience. Have you ever known someone that watches World Wide Wrestling shows, or attend WWE events? There's a shocked/stunned feeling you get when you hear they do, like, how can you possibly get pulled into the soap opera crap acting fakeness of it? That's the feeling I get from this show.. The guy pulls up the emotional range of a super bad Chinese soap opera, complete with tears, all while telling stories that I still have no idea what they mean. One of the most bizarre meaningless movies I've ever seen, and I'm in my 60s. I kept waiting for some semblance of order or cohesiveness to come through. But nothing. Was it a metaphor on life? Suicide? And all the while, doing manipulative magic and sometimes pretending like he really was reading people's thoughts? God this was one irritating and painfully odd thing to watch. I felt that same separation I feel when I find out people watch WWE and cry and feel emotion from it.
