What The Fish: Mindless Entertainment & There Is Nothing Wrong With That!!

What an epic absurdity, it was completely bonkers that I loved so many things about this film. I didn't expect it to be this good, it was fun seeing both SJ Surya and Vishal breaking the law of physics and I hoped it didn't end.

With movies catering to a thirsty young crowd director Adhik Ravichandran has raised eyebrows with an average filmography in recent years. But I bet you this film will leave many gob smacked like how such a filmmaker with a track record of mediocre films can pull off something so damn quirky, absurd that I left the theater smiling.

As with most time travel movies, this treads along the familiar pattern of the characters going back and forth to prevent an incident with unexpected consequences. The film packs so much in the runtime as the leads switch places, and professions with a pile of trouble they keep getting into, trying to change their destiny. Between all the chaos we get some cool Ajith Kumar references and a tribute to Silk Smitha that makes it somewhat one of the wacky but funny sequences in the film.

Coming to the performances, the main quartet, and I mean both Vishal and SJ Suryah gets 2 different roles to play which is very entertaining. They give it all for the role of the mechanic and the gangster playing the role with so many popcorn reel-worthy moments. One of my favorite sequences is the phone conversations in the 2nd half when the mechanic son SJ Surya assigns a task to the Father and keeps pestering him with non-cerebral entertainment. Please do check out my review for Thupparivaalan and you may notice that I had no hopes for Vishal and this is best, he had so much fun donning the Father and the Son role. The Climax anaconda sequence was madness, it is accentuated by over-the-top score by GV Prakash.

Finally, I want to say this is a really ambitious, complicated, and brave attempt by the team to provide good cinematic popcorn entertainment is highly recommended.

SJ Suryah - the real hero of the movie!

Vishal very dull acting after his entry was a letdown and thought the movie is gonna be so bad but SJ Suryah performance peaked at pre-interval to 2nd half pre climax, just wow. People do say overreacting but that's his talent and it was good. Those 7 marks are for SJ Suryah comedy and acting and Vishal acting in climax. Adik. Ajith references were unwanted from Adik Ravichandaran. His other movies are not good as this. Songs were not good but retro remix from GVP worked out. Comeback for Vishal and the director. The story was very similiar as INN but the concept of Time Travel was different. We need more unique scripts like this! 2nd half screenplay >> 1st half screenplay.

Fun riot.

Well, this movie is totally for entertainment purposes. We may be fans of Christopher Nolan, but once in a while we need an illogical movie with pure magic to entertain us. I loved the second part of the play, especially S. J. Surya's performance. Vishal score in the climax. I had a good laugh after a long time. Every scene was crisp and entertaining. The music is good, and the action sequences were enjoyable. Overall, this is a fun movie to watch with your gang. I hope the director continues on this path, where he can score very well. Leave your logical brain before entering the theater. Won't regret........

Surprisingly enjoyable

I did not expect it to enjoy it as much as I did. Infact as a family we watched it in a single OTT sitting on Prime, so there was something going for the movie! It was over the top but that is expected for a time travel movie. Also loved it that we could not figure out what was going on in the initial half.

SJ Suryah really plays quirky characters so effortlessly. I did not like some of the lewd dialogues, could so easily have been avoided. And it could have been edited to be shorter by ten minutes at the very minimum.

Enjoyed the final avatar of Vishaal. As a son, something was off with the makeup. And glad that the ending was the way it was!

Review

Vishal $ s.j Suryah are in dual role along side Ritu Varma Sunil abhinaya selvaraghavan. It might be an average movie, but not the worst either. I do appreciate that they tried something new well IIt might be an average movie, but not the worst either. I do appreciate that they tried something new well I suppose suppose it to be a dumb movie where the plot does not have real much sense I hoped that it is because it's not like this movie is without stock. SG Suryah whose comedic timing and Manna is almost perfect to the concept as such whose screen presents almost It's underwhelming screenplay.

A comical time travel

One of the best comical movie , brings out the vibes of back to the future. A simple and clean story and an amazing and engaging screenplay with an extraordinary background scoring. Kudos to the director and team, aadhik really nailed it. Special kudos to the music from GV , the bgms are ultimate. Vishal did his role to perfect with some amazing performances. The key of the ship was the nadipu arakkan SJ surya. He is the god of acting. His body language style swag comedy and thug is worth trillion. An amazing asset to tamil cinema. He has nailed every bit of it. The main drawback is the songs, could have no songs in this fast phased movie. Overall an osm entertainer, Please do watch it available in theaters.
