Unforgotten (2015)

Review by ourelbi

Unforgotten

1/10

One star because I had to give something...

I really loved this series, and then series 5 happened and it was okay, not great. I didn't have high hopes for series 6.

British detective shows have been my happy place for over 30 years, but sadly, no new ones take me there.

This series has taken every political and social topic being argued about on social media and in the news in the last several years, and dumped it into an entire series. I won't go into all of the topics, but they're never-ending, nauseatingly bad, very cringe-y and I just can't re-live it. If you've seen the series, DI Ray, it's similar to that, but this series is worse. It feels like an after-school special.

Just a vent on my other annoyances -
  • the way they go around the room getting updates from everyone working on the case - from one to the other to the other to the other.... I felt like it was my turn next and I was in no way prepared! And then there's that one officer always sucking on that damn lollipop!

  • please STOP! With the police cars pulling up in the street, the DIs or the police getting out - all in slo-mo - and the person they're coming to see just happens to be at the window, staring and worrying about what's the come.... the camera stays on them as if it's Bold and the Beautiful. I'm not sure if it's satire anymore, it's just gotten so bad.

Terrible writing and directing. Just dreadful.
